HELLOOOOOO!!!
My name is Beth and I am the proud owner of three gorgeous boy hammys!! I have started up this blog to tell their stories and share their adventures with you. But that is not all!! I am a student studying at De Montfort University in Leicester and in my shared student house we have NINE hamsters between us!! My good friend Lucy, who will sometimes be contributing some posts to this blog owns most of them and started off the hamster keeping bug. Let me introduce you....
Starting with the smallest hamsters first, we have Pumpkin (top) and Nutmeg the male Roborovski Dwarf hamsters. They are nearly 5 months old and were rescued from a lady who could no longer keep them. Although when they arrived they were together, the stress of moving meant that they started fighting and Nutmeg got quite badly injured so they had to be separated. Lucy is currently in the process of trying to reintroduce them- but more of that another time!
The next size up are the Russian Dwarf hamsters- Crumpet (top) and Muffin. They also belong to Lucy and although are biologically boys, they are referred to as 'the girls' because when bought from the pet shop that is how they had been sexed by the salesman. These little chubsters are the only hamsters bought from a pet shop, all our other hamsters are rescues in one way or another.
The rest of our hamsters are Syrians...of which we have five....
Mabel (top) and Milo are brother and sister. Milo is mine and is the most beautiful sable roan colour. Mabel is the prettiest little thing, with a lovely creamy coloured coat. They are about 3 months old.
Poppy is the eldest at 7 months and belongs to Lucy. She is affectionately nicknamed 'Pops' or 'Popsicle' and is a very cheeky little thing, constantly escaping from her excise ball! Only the other day we had to have all of the skirting boards in the kitchen out as she had managed to get underneath the cupboards!
Finally we have the last two boys- both mine.
Patrick (top) is a very large lad. The biggest hamster I have ever seen!! He is 5 months old and we have a suspicion that he is completely blind as he sniffs and licks his way around and casually walks off edges without seeming to realise they are there at all.
Pip is the smallest Syrian we have, although he is about 4 and a half months old. He is mostly black, with a dusty white splodge on one hip, white socks on his front legs and a white stripe leading from his chin, going down his tummy and curling around the back of one his front legs. Bless him, he is a sweetie.
So they are our lovely hammys. I hope you enjoy reading our stories, reviews and thoughts on hamster care. Feel free to comment and share stories of your own fluffballs!! We would love to hear from you! xx
